Here's what I got out of my "empty" container: about a cup and a half's worth of detergent. 360 ml. Each load takes 50 ml of detergent, so a little patience and careful propping up of the big jug to let it drain gave me seven more loads of laundry, which is enough to get me to next month before I have to buy more.
I've always suspected that the push to the super-thick syrupy "7x UlTrA!!!!" formulations is that it means people just waste lots of it. Whatever happened to powders? Where the container doesn't get all gooped up from drips, and you can use every last bit, and you can easily pack some in a ziploc for vacations?

I ended up buying those Purex-brand washer sheets that have the detergent embedded in a piece of non-woven fabric for travel. Pricey, yes, but nice and convenient and still cheaper than buying detergent out of vending machine at a laundromat.

I do this with all kinds of soap-laundry detergent, dish soap, shampoo, etc. I just can't throw it out until every drop is out. My cupboards are usually messy with containers that are almost gone. About twice a year I get out the funnel and get all the rest out. Then there is order for a little while until the next round.
