I guess I'm old-fashioned too, then. My 11 yo has the same shoe size as I do - 9 women's. It is impossible to find a modest shoe for her. Some flats work, but anything with a heel is too high, too sexy, or just plain ugly. The flats often look too old for her. Ugh. It is immensely frustrating for both of us.

So far, my kid's smallish feet have kept us in the kids' sizes. I'm glad for that. But time will come, long before she's old enough to wear the styles of grown-up ladies shoes, that her feet will need those sizes.
Sigh. I should watch garage sales and thrift stores, I guess!

Add me to the old fashioned list. . .
My 13yo is just now into ladies' shoe sizes, and it is a challenge. It helps that styles available in wider widths are generally not as sexy (though it also means the cuter girl styles didn't come in her size).
