This morning I threw out something that I have been storing for years. It has been in my possesion at least eight years. I have moved it from Wisconsin to Illinois, even. I was going to sell it on eBay, see. Or perhaps color the pictures and hang them up. It was an oversized Winnie the Pooh coloring book from the late 30s.
I finally checked eBay's sold/completed listings. If I was really lucky, it might have sold for about $12. And those were in better shape than mine were.
Not worth it.
What a relief to finally have that thing out of my closet.
It makes me wonder how much weight we all carry around in Need Tos, Shoulds, and Someday I'lls.
I think sometimes it's ok to cut the clutter, both mental and physical, that these sorts of things cause and just dispense with them as quickly and easily as possible.
Sometimes it makes sense to just finally DO the Need To. And sometimes, it's ok to just make it go away so it becomes a Never Bothered instead of a Should.
