Time that my neighbor fired up his two-cycle snow thrower:
4:43 am
Amount of snow that fell overnight:
about 1-1/2 inches.
And if we had shoveled the walk following the last snowfall (about three inches' worth) our walks would now be clean and dry, since it was sunny all day yesterday. But the walks were snowblowed, leaving a packed-down crust which melted and refroze before we got it scraped up.
I don't like the small snowblowers. It's too easy to use them when they're not needed, and they're not powerful enough to tackle those snowfalls of six inches or more when you really need the muscle.
UPDATE: Yesterday (12/16) we had six inches of snow and wouldn'tchaknow that bitty snowblower did a good job. Our neighbor did half our walk and up to our porch. I took over Christmas cookies. I'll stop being such a grump now.

We have a snowblower, purchased for us by concerned Texas parents, but we only use it when the amount of snowfall is such that shoveling it might put undue demands on our 40-year-old hearts and bodies (and my dh's bad wrist and neck). It's just not worth the trouble otherwise!
